SetMate ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and a hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.

Content you create. Songs, setlists, chord charts, notes, images and other content you save to your SetMate library are stored on our servers so you can sync between devices. Content you choose to publish to the public song library is visible to other SetMate users.

Usage data. We log basic application telemetry — for example, counts of certain features you use — to enforce plan limits and improve the product.

Billing data. Payments are processed by Stripe (web) and Apple / RevenueCat (iOS). SetMate does not see or store your payment card details.

Guest accounts. You can use SetMate as a guest without providing an email or password. A guest account is identified by a randomly generated key stored on your device; it carries no email until you choose to create a full account, at which point your existing content is kept.

Referral program. If you become an affiliate, we collect the payout details you provide — your payout name, payout method, and the associated handle or account (for example, a PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle handle) — and, where required for tax reporting, tax information you provide, so we can pay commissions. If you sign up using another user's referral code, we record that you were referred in order to credit the referring affiliate.

3. Automated and AI-assisted processing

SetMate uses automated systems to process some content. When you publish content to the public song library, the text may be screened by a third-party service to detect unsafe or policy-violating material. In some versions of the app, a chord-chart feature may send a song title, artist, and any lyrics you choose to paste to a third-party AI provider to generate or format a chart. We do not send your library, account email, or any other personal information with these requests.

4. Public song library

Songs you publish to the public library become available to other SetMate users. The display name shown alongside a public song is the part of your email address before the "@" symbol, unless you choose a different display name. You can unpublish any of your public songs at any time.

5. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers that help us operate SetMate (hosting, payment processing, content moderation, image storage) and only to the extent necessary to provide the service.

Referral activity. If you participate in the referral program, the activity we show to the affiliate who referred you is anonymized and aggregated — it never identifies the individual users a code referred. Affiliate payout details you provide are used only to pay you.

6. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your library, setlists and public posts are deleted. Backups and logs may persist for up to 30 days.

7. Your rights

You can request a copy of your data, correct it, or ask us to delete your account by emailing support@setmateapp.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under the GDPR (EU/UK) or the CCPA (California).

8. Children

SetMate is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes we will notify you in the app or by email.
